Earthquake Cake

1 cup coconut
1 cup nuts, chopped …either walnuts or pecans
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese softened
½ cup ( 1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
1 box powdered sugar ( 3 ½ cups)
1 package German chocolate cake mix

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease and flour a 9” x 13” pan.  Spread coconut and nuts into the pan.  With electric mixer, beat together the cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar.  In another bowl prepare the cake as directed on the box.  Pour cake batter over the nuts and coconut.  Dab the cheese mixture onto the cake batter.  Bake for 45 minutes.  Makes 12-16 servings.
